Fundada en 1983, tiene como propósito transformar con música. En 2021, ganó el Latin Grammy por su álbum ‘Tu Rockcito Filarmónico’ y en 2022 recibió el Premio a la Innovación Classical:NEXT, como reconocimiento a su modelo de gestión enfocado en poner la música al servicio de las comunidades. David Greilsammer (Israel) es su director titular desde 2022.

Greilsammer ha dado vida a numerosos proyectos innovadores, estrenos mundiales y encuentros disruptivos entre diferentes artes y culturas. Recientemente se ha presentado como director-solista con la Filarmónica de la BBC, la Sinfónica de San Francisco, la Orquesta Metropolitana de Tokio, la Filarmónica de Hong Kong, la Sinfónica de Hamburgo, entre otras.
Desde 2022, es director titular de la Orquesta Filarmónica de Medellín.
